Teacher Training Program
HAFF is dedicated to education and the Teacher Training Program (Proje Antrennman Lekol Primè) promises to greatly multiply our efforts at improving education in grade schools in the Central Plateau of Haiti. Budgets for these private, church, and government schools are often small or non-existent offering little or no teacher training and allowing a person to teach any elementary class he or she has passed themselves. HAFF is helping to meet the demand for well trained educators by providing training to teachers who are already teaching in area schools.
Currently 50 rural church-sponsored Christian elementary schools participate in HAFF's
Teacher Training Program, which is coordinated by Met Justin Mompremier, a Haitian national
on HAFF's staff. The majority of the training is done during the summer when schools are
not in session allowing teachers the time to receive training. Met Justin holds week long
trainings focusing on one primary grade level each week, helping teachers to understand and
apply the national curriculum, methodology, and how to integrate biblical principles into
their lessons. For many, this is the only teacher training they will ever receive. As the
school year begins Met Justin visits local schools to provide encouragement and follow up
with the teachers.
