Godly Woman Class

Godly Woman Class
  • Coordinated by Gertrude (Mme Gesson) Azeme (center above)
  • Christian Home Economics class inspired by the model of the Proverbs 31 woman.
  • Each year 20 new women from various communities are selected to participate, based on references from their pastors and their achievement on an entrance exam.
  • The class meets 7 hours a day, 2 to 3 days a month for 8 months.
  • People from the surrounding communities with special skills in class subject areas are invited to teach alongside Mme Gesson.
  • Subjects include cooking, baking, sewing, embroidery, arts and crafts, soap making and more.
  • The women also study godly women in the Bible and topics such as sexual purity and peacemaking.
  • The year ends with a graduation ceremony (photo below) in which the women sing, present gifts to that year's facilitators, receive gifts from family and friends and are given a certificate marking their major accomplishment.
