God’s Amazing Grace in Crisis

In December, I shared a post titled “God’s Amazing Grace Saved My Life.” I meant every word. But since then, I’ve seen even more clearly that God wasn’t just saving my life—He was revealing His glory.
What felt like a crisis became a front-row seat to the grace of God.
Grace in the Operating Room
When my health emergency unfolded in Haiti, the Lord was already at work. A skilled surgical team performed a successful appendectomy—but they didn’t just operate. They prayed.

Yes, in the operating room.
Later, my surgeon emailed to tell me he was still praying for me. Think about that - medical excellence combined with spiritual dependence. It reminded me of Psalm 121:1–2:
“I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”
God used capable hands—but my help came from Him.
Grace Through the Family of God
When I returned home, I began hearing the full story. Messages poured in from ministry partners around the world. Churches. Friends. Supporters. Entire prayer networks interceding on my behalf.
I learned that hundreds in Haiti were praying fervently for my healing.
Hundreds.
In moments like that, you realize the Church is not small. It is global. It is powerful. It is unified in Christ.
Ephesians 3:20 became more real to me than ever.
“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think…”
God answered prayers I didn’t even know were being prayed!
Grace in God’s Redirection
At the same time, I was scheduled to travel to North Africa to teach on marriage. From a human perspective, my illness looked like a major disruption.
But God was not surprised!
In His kindness, He arranged for my coworker and his wife to step in. They used the materials we had prepared together and faithfully taught the couples. Ministry moved forward. Marriages were strengthened. The gospel was honored.
“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” Proverbs 16:9
I had plans. God had better ones.
Grace for HAFF
This experience also deepened my gratitude for the work God is doing through HAFF (Haitian American Friendship Foundation). HAFF is not just a ministry—it is a family. A family that prays. A family that serves. A family that stands together in crisis.
Through HAFF, children are fed and educated on Haiti’s Central Plateau. Pastors are trained. Leaders are developed. Hope is extended. And when one of us is in need, the whole body responds.
That’s the Church. That’s the beauty of gospel partnership.
What I Learned
In crisis, God did more than heal my body.
He showed me the depth of His family.
He reminded me that ministry is His work, not mine.
He demonstrated that His purposes cannot be interrupted.
He revealed His grace in ways I will never forget.
2 Corinthians 12:9 says,
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
I experienced that verse—not as theology, but as reality.
God’s grace is not abstract.
It is personal.
It is powerful.
It is present in crisis.
And it is absolutely AMAZING!
Thank you for praying. Thank you for standing with HAFF. Thank you for being part of what God is doing in Haiti and beyond.
All glory to Him!
